White Black Lines

The Wadi Saqra intersection at King Abdullah Park was recently painted with fresh white lines. The lanes were marked to define the lanes designed for turning and those intended for straight-on traffic. (The lane status still is blatantly ignored, but that’s a different story.) Within a week, I could hardly see the lines due to the compiling of dirt and grime. This tells me that we need a good, hard rain to wipe this city clean.

Interesting...because I thought they were orange!

Okay someone is color blind :D, is it your or me?

I think building look grey as you've mentioned before because of all the cars emmisions, especially minibuses and TOYOTA Coasters.

Firas, a week ago they were white. You're probably correct in that they are now orange. It doesn't take long around here. They should just save money and skip painting the roads.

Oh wow Dave!

It's been a while since I visited your blog. I just love the design.

The header, the layout, the colors. Great

I wonder why you didn't snap some shots of the grimey dirty White lines! hehehe

Omernos, my digital SLR camera is great for photography, but it's bulk hinders me from carrying it around for common snapshots. I probably need to invest in a second, smaller camera for such purposes.

Also, the lines turned from crisp and white to grungy and dirty over the course of a single week. I noticed the lines the day before I left for Turkey and compared them when I returned a week later.

Anyway, I'll try to do a better job of taking more pictures, just for you. :)

I think it is because the GAM use cheap paint and not the white rubber paint that is specially for roads. T

Firas, just today I drove through the intersection and noticed the lines that you were referring to: the orange criss-cross lines in the middle of the intersection. I don't know what the heck those are for. I was originally commenting on the standard turn lanes on each side of the intersection.

Well, I hope you didn't drive there just to check if you are color blind or not.

Yeah,I guess I've got you wrong, sorry about that.

Well, they are as any other road sign or line goes by in Jordan : A decorative monument to impress foriegners.

I think they mean: "No pass till road is clear". You see, during rush hours, it happens that it turns green on one side, while the car's from the previous side are still in the intersection area, which kicks off another round of genuine Jordanian road rage.

I think the Traffic department should think smart and run some ads in local newspaper about these lines! I give them three weeks till they are completely wiped off! The lines at the next traffic light in the direction of Safeway are already gone ;)
